Mavro Lithari Beach is a popular seaside destination located in Anavyssos, along the scenic coastal road of the Athenian Riviera, approximately 45 minutes by car from Athens. It’s known for its clear blue waters, a mix of sand and pebbles, and relaxed summer atmosphere. The beach is located right in front of the Mavro Lithari Hotel.
The name Mavro Lithari translates to “black rock,” referring to a distinct dark stone that once sat prominently offshore. Though weathered by time, the name remains a poetic nod to the area’s coastal identity. What makes this beach stand out is its balanced blend of soft sand and smooth pebbles, crystal-clear waters, and gentle waves—ideal for both swimmers and sunbathers. There is a platform that leads to the deeper end of the beach, accessible via stairs. If you enjoy diving, bring a mask.
Mavro Lithari offers a mix of organized and free sections, making it perfect for all kinds of beachgoers.
